ROLE -> Lead Designer + Communications Associate
Life In Abundance is a Kenyan founded and based nonprofit focused on community development in underserved areas across Africa and the Caribbean.
As the organization’s primary designer, I developed brand-aligned materials across print and digital platforms, supporting donor communications, storytelling campaigns, and program resources. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I played a key role in helping the organization adapt and continue engaging its global audience: creating timely messaging, flexible content tools, and visuals that reinforced clarity and connection in a time of uncertainty. My work spanned everything from annual reports, merchandise and social content to large-scale fundraising campaigns and international training materials.
Website Design and Icon Development
-
Through story-brand workshops, we refined the organization’s messaging and clarified core values.
Visually, I drew from the brand’s history and cultural context to create a system that balances vibrant color with professional tone. I developed a custom icon set inspired by the shape language of the logo, and made subtle logo refinements to enhance consistency and polish without disrupting brand recognition.
MONTHLY COMMUNICATION UPDATES -> As part of our monthly global updates, I designed and co-led presentations to align teams across continents. We shared current and upcoming initiatives, previewed materials, and facilitated collaboration between support offices and headquarters.
BOOK PROMOTIONS -> I redesigned the cover of The Pursuit of His Calling, a book by Dr. Florence Muindi, founder of Life In Abundance. The update brought freshness and energy to the release while honoring the tone of her story. I also created a suite of promotional materials for print, email, and social media to support the launch.
ANNUAL REPORT -> Each year, I partnered with the communications director to develop and design Life In Abundance’s annual report. I created both the print and digital versions, balancing visual storytelling with clarity for a global donor base. The report was mailed to supporters and published online as part of LIA’s year-end strategy.
CONFERENCE MATERIALS -> At a relief-aid conference, we saw how often communities in Africa were framed through scarcity. To reflect LIA’s dignity-driven mission, we created a more human-centered experience with discussion cards, African coffee and art, and audio from our local teams to challenge perceptions and reframe what it means to live a rich life.
FREE DIGITAL RESOURCES -> During the height of COVID-19, we saw the emotional toll it was taking on supporters. In addition to regular updates, we created a free digital devotional with playlists and illustrated coloring pages, designed to offer rest, reflection, and connection.
