WestGate Church Branding
LOCATION -> San Jose, California
DATE -> 2021-2025
ROLE -> Lead Designer + Communications Specialist
PROJECT TYPE -> Brand Development + Communications
As the sole designer at WestGate Church, I developed and maintained the visual identity across multiple campuses, including a Spanish speaking campus, and platforms. This includes weekly materials for curated teaching events, as well as design support for conferences, community initiatives, and church-wide campaigns. I was responsible for initial project development to final production pre-press.
The brand system needed to be flexible enough to serve a range of content while remaining consistent and recognizable to a broad audience. My work includes everything from weekly communications and slide decks to seasonal campaigns, signage, social media assets, long-term brand refinement, and internal organizational systems.
Brand Packaging
This internal resource was created to demystify the brand for staff and leadership: what it is, why it matters, and how it applies to the day-to-day work of a large, multi-campus organization. I built this presentation to cover everything from brand voice and visual identity to consistency, flexibility, and audience-specific communication.
The Hub Communications Portal
The Hub is a centralized internal resource I created to make branded communication simple and scalable. It equips staff and volunteers with ready-to-use templates and print-ready resources, reducing bottlenecks while maintaining consistency, without everything running through a one-person design team.

One of the biggest challenges for a nonprofit serving a large community is figuring out how to scale with a small team. That gets even trickier when you factor in the endless creativity that Canva invites. While I see Canva as a valuable tool to equip volunteers, I also needed to find a way to maintain brand integrity without bottlenecking every request through the design team of one.
Enter The Hub, an internal platform I built to house branded templates and pre-designed print-ready resources that meet the varying needs across the organization and campuses. From presentation slide decks and social posts to signage and print materials, everything lives in one place, accessible and ready to use. As a special touch, I even gave it its own custom hand-animated intro motion graphic.
I formatted this within the existing platform WestGate uses for their website. The Hub equips staff and lay-leaders alike to communicate clearly, consistently, and without guesswork.
BRAND MATERIALS -> These are examples of print and environmental materials that follow the brand closely and show how it works in real spaces.
BRAND ICONS -> I developed a custom icon set to represent WestGate’s core engagement steps, creating clear, flexible visuals that support navigation and highlight key areas of involvement across digital, print, and environmental platforms.
BOOKS + BOOKLETS -> These print pieces reflect how the brand extends into long-form formats. Each one follows the visual language established across WestGate materials while allowing for content-specific variation. For a closer look at the formatting and layout work, see the full case study on book design.
Interactive Art Experience, Vinyl on Wood
DIGITAL SIGNAGE -> To reduce waste and improve flexibility, I proposed replacing costly printed banners with digital signage in our lobby spaces, designing branded slides in vertical and horizontal formats with clear messaging and calls to action that now serve as adaptable anchors for key events, recurring initiatives, and real-time updates.
EMAIL CAMPAIGNS -> I led a visual and structural refresh of the weekly email, our primary communication tool for events, updates, and announcements across campuses, focusing on clarity, brand alignment, and engagement, while coordinating with departments weekly to ensure accurate, actionable content tied to a shared calendar.
APP INTERFACE + DESIGN -> I unified the app experience across multiple platforms by adapting interface design, graphics, and promotional materials to work within system limitations while maintaining brand consistency and clarity.
